Anyone have any ideas for any iPhone apps?

Re: iPhone Apps
A .iam and .ipt viewing program. (inventor files) I've been looking for one, unsuccessfully.
Probably best for an ipad, though.
Btw, opinions on the OS 4 preview?

That'd be nice, but too complicated. Simple, Kapp.

Yeah. Considering I'm able to use it, I find it quite nice.
Being able to change the backgrounds on the home/lock screen feels strange and like I jailbroke my phone. Multitasking is quite useless currently and truly shows recently run applications (which may or may not be running in the background). Apps feel a bit quicker. Taking pictures is pretty much instant now. Changing focus in the camera rocks. Optical zoom shows how terrible a camera the iPhone has. Folders are awesome, totally amazing. I can fit my 3-4 pages of apps into a few folders on one page. Quite nice. Anything else? I can't think of anything.

Re: iPhone Apps
I've found that the most "fun" apps are games.
I've also found that the most "popular" apps are insanely retarded and only garner attention for a few minutes.
I honestly have no idea. Simply because there are so many people who have created *so* many apps, I'm not even sure if there's anything you can
do without either getting (a) complicated or (b) another spin off of others that are out there.
One thing that I think would be cool is like a photo editing app? Like just take a photo into the "photo edit" app, and then you can draw over it, add beards, add a background. Kinda like a photoshop but not so insane.

I'm personally more of a WebOS fan. It's got true multitasking.

Re: iPhone Apps
An app that tells you, based on your current location, the date, and the time of day, what direction the shadow of a vertical object will face. Essentially, it will give you compass directions. It's kind of redundant for 3gs since it has a compass, but good for original iPhone users and 3g users. Also useful for people living near the north magnetic pole (alaskans), because compasses are inaccurate that far north.
It wouldn't be that hard. Just use the location function in the API to get the latitude, then do some math.

Yeah, but when apps close and open as quickly as they do on the iPhone, there isn't much need for anything more than background processes, which will be available on iPhone OS 4.

Okay, more than just a little math. But still, Tanner, I would love to figure that out for you if you wanted to make such an app.

We could do that.
Once I get something from Bethany, I'd like to dive head first into developing/learning apps this summer. Will take me a bit to get used to it.
Wouldn't you need a reference frame to say which direction shadows will point? Can't really just say "that a way".
