2011 FRC Kickoff: Summary

Post by Paul »

Good morning:

On Saturday, January 8, many of our members went to Georgia Institute of Technology and participated in the FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff. We were able to watch the game presentation and participate in workshops/discuss ideas on how to construct the robot. We had a wonderful time at Georgia Tech, and the team would like to thank the parents, alumni, and teachers for allowing us to participate in this event.

This year's competition game is called LogoMotion, in which two competing alliances compete to hang as many inflated plastic shapes on their grids during a 2 minute and 15 second match. The first 15 seconds consist of the autonomous mode - the robots act independently from the drivers and attempt to hang bonus shapes onto the wall during this brief moment. The next two minutes consist of the teleop mode. During this time period, drivers control the robot to hang shapes onto the wall. Rules and additional game information for this year's competition can be found here. The password for this file is 5Time4For3Robots2to1Dance! (including the exclamation mark).

Students and parents can use the online forum to discuss and share ideas; however, please note that you must register to access the forum.

Members, good luck!

Sincerely,
Paul Han
